There is no official ranking, and anyone who sells you one is selling something. What exists is influence: who shaped clinical practice, who the research cites, who trained the people who trained your hypnotherapist. That is the list below.

Training you can verify: a clinical background, or certification from a body that teaches ethics and screening, not a weekend course alone.
A method they can explain in two minutes. If it sounds like magic, leave.
No guarantees. Hypnosis works with responsive people on specific goals. Nobody can promise an outcome.
A clear scope. A good hypnotherapist tells you when you need a doctor or a therapist instead.
A plan with an end. A focused goal should not need an open-ended series of sessions.
